P0A7F: Hybrid Battery Pack Deterioration
P0A7F is Toyota's 'your hybrid battery is wearing out' code. It's a softer warning than P0A80, but it usually shows up just before the harder one does.
What it means
P0A7F flags reduced overall capacity in the hybrid pack. The car still drives, but the system is telling you the battery isn't holding the charge it used to. It's the early-warning version of P0A80.
Vehicles where we see this most
- Toyota Prius (all generations)
- Toyota Camry Hybrid
- Lexus CT200h
- Lexus HS250h
Most-likely causes
- Normal aging of nickel-metal-hydride cells over 8–12+ years.
- One or two cell modules dragging the rest of the pack down.
- Long periods of disuse. A Prius parked for months loses pack health fast.
Is it really the battery?
Yes, but with P0A7F you have time to plan. Some packs limp along for months after this code first appears; others throw a hard P0A80 within days. Don't ignore it, but you don't have to panic either.
What to do next
- Get a full code scan. If you also have P0A80 or P3011–P3030, the pack is essentially done.
- Take the quiz, or call us for pricing while you have the runway. Most Prius packs we replace come in around $1,699 reconditioned with a 3-year warranty.

Five questions, built by our techs. We'll tell you honestly whether it sounds like the pack, or something cheaper.
